The Architectural Review, a British Architectural magazine, was founded in 1896 and has documented The history of architecture throughout The modern world. The Architectural Review is the only global architecture magazine for the 21st century. Be inspired and provoked by incisive critiques and the thinking behind the buildings shaping architectural discourse. Since 1896, The Architectural Review has scoured the globe for architecture that challenges and inspires. Buildings old and new are chosen as prisms through which arguments and broader narratives are constructed. In their fearless storytelling, independent critical voices explore the forces that shape the homes, cities and places we inhabit.

Public space is a stage for human life, a place of democracy and collectivity. Open, accessible and abundant public space is crucial to the civic health of our cities and shared landscapes – a critical communal resource. As these spaces become increasingly threatened in the face of darkening commercial and political forces, the inaugural AR Public awards recognise the importance of creating, rescuing and renovating public spaces.
